In this session, Marko Taipale, will briefly explain Nonviolent communication (NVC) and facilitate follow-up exercises.
NVC is based on the idea that all human beings have the same universal needs and have the capacity for compassion. Violence is a desperate expression of a need that is not met and conflict arises when strategies to meet the needs are clashing.
NVC has been applied in multiple contexts like organizational and business setting, parenting, intimate relationships, education, psychotherapy, health care, prisons and peace programs in conflict zones including Rwanda, Serbia, Croatia, Ireland and the Middle East.
People who practice NVC have found greater authenticity in their communication, increased understanding, deepening human connection and conflict resolution. Overall they feel that they have had a greater chance to get their needs fulfilled.
